CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Eugene Leo Glastetter, 86, of Chaffee died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at Chaffee Nursing Center.
He was born April 3, 1921, at New Hamburg, Mo., son of Anton and Regina Heuring Glastetter. He and Rella Agnes Glueck were married March 10, 1945.
Glastetter was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee and its Men's Club, Knights of Columbus Council 6420 and VFW Post 6407 in Scott City.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and received a Bronze Star. He was with the Quartermaster Corps in Europe during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Stanley Glastetter of Lakeland, Fla., Les, Tim, Karl and Eric Glastetter, all of Chaffee, Brian Glastetter of Marston, Mo., Barry Glastetter of Bardstown, Ky.; a daughter, Susie Wipfler of Kelso, Mo.; 24 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a grandson, four brothers and eight sisters.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The parish rosary will be at 7, followed by Knights of Columbus prayers at 7:15.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating. Burial will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery with full military honors to be conducted.
