Eugene "Gene" Farrar, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Cape Girardeau to Percy and Bertha Schonhoff Farrar. He and Barbara Crites were married June 11, 1966, in Cape Girardeau.
He served in the National Guard.
Gene owned and operated Farrar Dairy for over 25 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, a former member of Cape Girardeau Jaycees and a board member of Cape Jaycees Golf Course.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Farrar of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Susan (Kevin) Stanfield of Cape Girardeau and Kim (Alvin) Frank of Chaffee, Missouri; son, Brad Farrar of Jackson; three sisters, Geraldine Stone of Cape Girardeau, Margaret Farrar of Cape Girardeau and Dorothy Hulsey of Raytown, Missouri; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Baxter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Farrar; three brothers, Glen Farrar, Paul Farrar and infant brother, Arthur; and daughter-in-law, Annette Farrar.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with parish prayers at 7 p.m. and Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Revs. Rick Jones and William Hennecke officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or Notre Dame Regional High School.
