Eugene Borchelt, 81, of Egypt Mills died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Egypt Mills to Herbert A. and Barbara Exler Borchelt. He and Anita G. Wilkinson were married Sept. 29, 1961, at Egypt Mills.
Borchelt was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army, and was a foreman with the Cape Special Road District. He retired in 1994 after 38 years. He was a member of Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1969.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Borchelt of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Gaye (Mark) Puchbauer of Jackson; a son, Dan W. Borchelt of Mount Laurel, N.J.; grandchildren, Leah and Ethan Puchbauer; sisters, Virginia Break of Cape Girardeau and Cecelia Bender of Egypt Mills.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills, with the Rev. Mark K. Rogers officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military rite by the Missouri Honors Team.
