MARBLE HILL -- Etta Mae Birkman, 82, of Fairfield, Ill., died Tuesday, May 21, 1991, at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, Ill. She was born Jan. 2, 1909, near Bessville, daughter of Raleigh and Cora Whitener Sitze. She married Louis Birkman, who died Jan. 31, 1982...

MARBLE HILL -- Etta Mae Birkman, 82, of Fairfield, Ill., died Tuesday, May 21, 1991, at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, Ill.

She was born Jan. 2, 1909, near Bessville, daughter of Raleigh and Cora Whitener Sitze. She married Louis Birkman, who died Jan. 31, 1982.

Birkman was a retired nurse aide from Southeast Missouri Hospital, and was a member of Old Trace Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Pearldean McKinney of Fairfield; a brother, Edward Sitze of High Ridge; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Liley Funeral Chapel here. The Rev. Frederick Mouser will officiate, with burial in Old Trace Creek Cemetery near Glen Allen.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
