ETHEL MATTHEWS

MALDEN -- Funeral service for Ethel Mae Matthews of Malden will be held at 1 p.m. today at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. The Rev. Scott Keller will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.

Matthews, 85, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at Malden Nursing Center.

She was born Sept. 27, 1912, at Zalma, daughter of John Henry and Emma Henderson Strong. She and Herman Matthews were married Aug. 18, 1930.

Matthews attended First General Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Leo Matthews of Cahokia, Ill., Ernie Matthews of Malden; two daughters, Daisy Tilley of Mammoth Springs, Ark., Linda White of Malden; a sister, Toria Abernathy of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister.
