CHARLESTON -- Funeral for Ethel Evans of Charleston will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Gerald Collier will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Evans, 85, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.
She was born Oct. 22, 1913, in Mississippi County, daughter of Omer and Gussie Stallings Slack. She and Lewis Monroe Evans III were married Aug. 9, 1941. He died Jan. 9, 1994.
Evans lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She was a teacher at Bird's Point several years, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Charleston.
Survivors include a son, David Evans III of Charleston; a daughter, Susan Jenson of Houston, Texas; and a grandson.
