Esther Ellen Propst James, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Sept. 17, 1915, at Lixville, Mo., daughter of Caruthers and Rosetta Pavey Conrad. She married Tony Edwin Propst Sept. 24, 1932, at Sedgewickville. He died July 25, 1957. She and Max James were married March 15, 1980, at Cape Girardeau. He died May 10, 1994.
Esther James retired in 1980 from the International Shoe Factory. She had been a member of the Third Street United Methodist Church since 1946, was active with the Colonial Seniors at Cape Girardeau and was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley E. Propst of Fayetteville, N.C., and Ronald W. Propst of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Rosetta E. Davis and Linda K. Dedert, both of Cape Girardeau, and Joy S. Martin of Decatur, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Sedgewickville.
