Esther D. Davenport, age 76, passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call Sunday between 4-8 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment in Russell Heights Cemetery. Rev. Ann Mowery will officiate.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Zion United Methodist Memorial Fund.
Mrs. Davenport was born March 16, 1924, at Gordonville, the daughter of Emil C. and Ida M. (Deneke) Overbeck. She married Ray M. Davenport on Dec. 24, 1947, at Gordonville, and he survives.
Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Karen R. and Bruce A. Lorenz of Jackson; a brother, Louis W. Overbeck of Fon du Lac, Wis.; two sisters, Marie E. Walker and Louise Williams of Jackson; and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Clarissa and Andrew Lorenz of Jackson.
Mrs. Davenport was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville, a member of the United Methodist Women of the church and a former Sunday school teacher.
