Essie Berry Harris, 62, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill. She was born April 1, 1942, in Chicago, daughter of Wilmer and Cora Allen Berry. Essie Berry Harris, 62, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.

She was born April 1, 1942, in Chicago, daughter of Wilmer and Cora Allen Berry. She married James M. Harris, who died May 10, 2004.

Mrs. Harris was a member of Greater Dimension Church of God in Christ and served on the usher board. She was employed by Visiting Nurse Association.

Survivors include her mother of Kankakee, Ill.; a son, Erick D. Harris of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Tiffany Harris of Cape Girardeau; five brothers, Wilmer Berry Jr. of Chicago, Roger Holt of Reno, Nev., Leon Berry of Belvidere, Ill., Willie Berry of Kankakee, Tyrone Berry of Joliet, Ill.; four sisters, Pat Francis of Country Club Hills, Ill., Cora Woods of Momence, Ill., Linda Childs of Kankakee, Carol Brooks of Dubuque, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel, and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Greater Dimension Church.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Bishop William Bird officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
