JACKSON -- Ervin E. Leadbetter, 69, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Friends may call Friday, May 12, from 4-8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral will be private. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery...

JACKSON -- Ervin E. Leadbetter, 69, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call Friday, May 12, from 4-8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral will be private. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Mr. Leadbetter was born Dec. 28, 1930, south of Marble Hill, son of the late Clarence and Thelma Eaker Leadbetter. He and Leta Vasterling were married Nov. 25, 1950.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Karen Leadbetter of St. Mary, Russell and Donna Leadbetter of Millersville; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Beverly and Stephen Schonhoff of Oak Ridge, Nancy and James Kranawetter of Jackson, Cathey and Brad Buchheit of Oak Ridge, Jean Leadbetter of High Ridge; two brothers, Raymond Leadbetter of Fredericktown, Michael Leadbetter of St. Charles; nine grandchildren, Carrie Jane, Jessica and Blake Leadbetter; Matthew Schonhoff; Carin and Alexander Kranawetter; and Amanda, Stefanie and Zachary Buchheit.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Letha Grace Leadbetter, and a brother, Ivan Leadbetter.

Ervin and Leta moved to Jackson in 1985 from Oak Ridge. Mr. Leadbetter drove a cement truck for Schwerman Trucking Co., retiring in 1979 after many years of service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
