CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Ervin L. Compas, 88 of Chaffee died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Chaffee Nursing Center.
He was born June 7, 1923, in Kelso, Mo., to Benjamin G. and Sophia Scherer Compas.
He married Margaret Westrich on June 20, 1953. She preceded him in death Jan. 1, 2010.
Ervin was owner/operator of Compas Mobil Service Station in Chaffee. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, St. Ambrose Men's Club, Chaffee American Legion Post No. 389 and Chaffee V.F.W. Post No. 3167. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by two sons, Mike (Pamela) Compas and Bill Compas, both of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Arnold Compas of South Bend, Ind.; a sister, Lorena Himmelsbach of Tennessee; two granddaughters, Amanda (Robbie) Adams of Delta, Mo., and Michelle (Garrett) Dunning of Jackson; two great-grandsons, Robbie Adams and Ryan Adams, both of Delta.
He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Visitation will be at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, the with Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.
