WILSON CITY -- Ernest Charles Latham, 67, of Wilson City died Friday, April 4, 1997, at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Phoenix, Ill., son of Elzer and Vera Woods Latham. He married Jennie L. Webster Jan. 29, 1954. Latham was retired from Wyman and Gordon Steel Co. after 25 years and from Illinois Bell after 10 years...

WILSON CITY -- Ernest Charles Latham, 67, of Wilson City died Friday, April 4, 1997, at his home.

He was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Phoenix, Ill., son of Elzer and Vera Woods Latham. He married Jennie L. Webster Jan. 29, 1954.

Latham was retired from Wyman and Gordon Steel Co. after 25 years and from Illinois Bell after 10 years.

He was a member of Victory Temple Church of God in Christ in Harvey, Ill., where he served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ernest Latham Jr. of Minneapolis, David Latham of Maryville, Ind., and Michael Latham of Madison, Wis.; two daughters, Shavay Barlow of Madison and MeeShay Latham of Sikeston; and 13 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Wilson City.

Funeral service will be 7 tonight at the church, with Elder Lennie D. Pulliam officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill.

Sparks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
