Erma Wulfers Cooper, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at her home.
She was born March 14, 1919, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Frank and Mary Seiler Wulfers. She and Delbert Cooper were married Oct. 31, 1942, in California. He preceded her in death June 21, 1954.
Mrs. Cooper attended St. Mary's Grade School, and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1937.
She worked at McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in California during World War II, as a riveter. She had been the housekeeping manager 20 years at Holiday Inn, and a housekeeper at St. Mary's Rectory, retiring in 1990. She worked at Speed Sport Automotive until recently.
Mrs. Cooper was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Parish, Council of Catholic Women, and Legion of Mary. She had been a resident of Cape Girardeau all her life.
Survivors include two sons, Kenny Cooper and wife Diane of Cape Girardeau, Daryl Cooper and Katherine Keller Teichman of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Bernice Eisenbeis of Festus, Mo.; two grandchildren, Kim Hunter of Union, Mo., Keith Cooper of Perryville, Mo.; a stepgrandchild, Nick Teichman of Cape Girardeau; three great-grandchildren, Casie Cooper, Trey Hunter and Spencer Hunter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, the Rev. Ellis Wulfers, Charles Wulfers, and Manuel Wulfers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
