CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Ercie Evelyn Benfield, 96, of Chaffee died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 16, 1913, at Anniston, Mo., daughter of John Sherman and Allie Morris Burns. She and Omer F. Benfield were married Dec. 21, 1934. He preceded her in death March 3, 1989.
Ercie retired as a sewing machine operator from Bukstein Manufacturing Co. in Chaffee.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Larry Burns, Mike Burns, James Nance, Alden Burns, all of Illinois, Dalois Holt, Cletus Benfield, Truman Benfield, Geneva Nance, all of Tennessee, Vella Robinson of Florida, Debbie Johnson of Colorado, LaVonda Free of Georgia, James White of Louisiana, Hubert White, Lurline Crump, Pam Shouse, Rita Friedrich, Teresa Burns, all of Missouri, Gary White of Oklahoma, Jerry White of Nevada, and Marilyn White of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Revs. Truman Benfield and Cletus Benfield officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee.
