PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Emogene M. Wengert, 91, of Perryville passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at the Independence Care Center in Perryville.
She was born April 17, 1930, in Lithium, Missouri, to Edward and Marie A. Dallas Riney. She and Herbert A. 'Whitey' Wengert were married on Aug. 26, 1950, and he passed away Oct. 3, 2007.
She was employed as an Inspector at Prince Gardener. She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Perryville and the Ladies Sodality.
Emogene was a homemaker and loved quilting, sewing and reading.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Wengert of Perryville and Brenda (Randy) Lorenz of Perryville; four sons, Michael (Terry) Wengert of Perryville, Kenneth Wengert of Perryville, James (Patty) Wengert of Perryville and Alan (Kim) Wengert of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Dolores Cavins of Saint Mary, Missouri, Erma Hayes of Perryville and Sharon (Norman) Sutterer of St. Louis; two brothers, Gerald Riney of Perryville and Larry (Sherry) Riney of Perryville; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Gary Wengert, Richard 'Dick' Wengert; and one infant brother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tonight.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Ben Melaku C.M. officiating. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in St. Mary.
