EMMA SHELBY

EAST PRAIRIE -- Emma Lou Shelby, 81, of Memphis, Tenn., died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at the home of a daughter.

She was born Oct. 15, 1916, in East Prairie, daughter of George and Henrietta Cotham Lain. She and Roy Benjamin Shelby were married Nov. 24, 1938. He died in May 1981.

Shelby lived in New Madrid many years, and was a member of New Madrid Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Roy Shelby of Collierville, Tenn.; a daughter, Peggy Cruchon of Memphis; two sisters, Ruby Uthoff of Sikeston, Mary Miller of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Tom Bray officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
