CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Funeral service for Mrs. Emma E. Barnes of Pine Bluff, Ark., was held Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church there. Dr. Lawrence A. Wood and the Rev. James B. Miller officiated, with burial in Old Bellwood Cemetery.
Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home of Pine Bluff was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Barnes, 69 years old, died Monday, April 15, 1991, at her home.
She was born March 2, 1922, in Ligonier, Pa., daughter of Ford Stanley and Jennie M. Anderson Frye. She married Howard W. Barnes June 18, 1948, in Scottdale, Pa.
Mrs. Barnes received a B.S. degree in physical education at Slippery Rock College. The Barnes moved to Pine Bluff in 1953. She was an elementary school teacher in Pine Bluff from 1964-84.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Delta Kappa Gamma sorority and American Field Service. She was a past member of Pine Bluff Planning Commission and volunteer for CASA, a Laubach Volunteer, the Women's Auxiliary for the Salvation Army, and a church circle leader.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Dean Barnes of Houston, Tex.; a daughter, Beverly Rust of Cape Girardeau; a brother, William Frye of Ligonier, and two granddaughters, Katharine and Susan Barnes.
