SIKESTON, Mo. -- Emma J. "Emmy" DeWitt, 94, of Sikeston died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at her home.
She was born Oct. 9, 1909, at Bement, Mo., daughter of Joseph H. and Lydia E. Ward Tate. She and James Howard DeWitt were married Aug. 15, 1926, at Bertrand, Mo. He died Oct. 12, 1992.
DeWitt was a member of North Acres General Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Amos DeWitt of Parker, Colo.; three daughters, Zelma DeWitt, Oma Nelson and Berneda Green, all of Sikeston; a brother, Joe Tate of Oran, Mo.; two sisters, Stella Duke of Sikeston, Ada Zoph of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the chapel, with the Revs. Joe McCullough and James Trotter officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie, Mo.
