Emil Dewrock Jr.
Emil William Dewrock Jr., 79, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 26, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, son of Emil and Pearl Wright Dewrock Sr. He and Melba Jarrell were married July 1, 1949, in Piggott, Ark. She survives.
Dewrock served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers as a tug boat captain. He loved to fish and play pool.
He is survived by two sons, Terry Dewrock and his wife, Catherine, of St. Louis, Gary Dewrock and his wife, Vicki, of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Donna Dewrock Frye and her husband, John, of Gordonville; a brother, Jerry Dewrock of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Virginia Westrich of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Derek and wife Angie Chenoweth, Greg Chenoweth, Grant Frye, Ryan and wife Gabriel Dewrock, Darin Dewrock, Britni Dewrock, Michael Shockley; and two great-grandchildren, Caden Chenoweth and Gavin Chenoweth.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Jean Dewrock Terry, and his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Schultz officiating. Burial will be at Dudley Cemetery in Dudley, Mo., with full military honors.
