ORAN, Mo. -- Elvira Teresa Schaefer, 82, of Oran passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the family home. She was born Jan. 25, 1932, on the family farm, to Ferdinand and Louise Brucker. She and Harold Lawrence Schaefer were married Jan. 27, 1951. He preceded her in death Jan. 24, 1987...

ORAN, Mo. -- Elvira Teresa Schaefer, 82, of Oran passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the family home.

She was born Jan. 25, 1932, on the family farm, to Ferdinand and Louise Brucker. She and Harold Lawrence Schaefer were married Jan. 27, 1951. He preceded her in death Jan. 24, 1987.

Elvira raised their 11 children and also was a janitor and teachers aide at Oran Elementary School. She later worked in the shipping department at Thorngate Ltd., and retired from Columbia Sportswear in Chaffee, Missouri. She was a member of St. Ann's Sodality and Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran.

Survivors include four sons, Elmer (Janet) Schaefer, Harry Schaefer and Mike (Michelle) Schaefer, all of Oran, and Danny (Doreen) Schaefer of Whitehall, Maryland; seven daughters, Teresa (Neil) Terhune of Raton, New Mexico, Rose (Ross) Pobst, Doris Reddick, Connie (Jimmy) Robinson, all of Oran, Freda (Dennis) Savat of McClure, Illinois, Mary Boese of Jackson, Judy (Frank) Sewell of Sikeston, Missouri; and 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and three grandchildren.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
