BERTRAND, Mo. -- Elvada Winders-Cooper, 79, of Bertrand died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born June 3, 1924, at Aid, Mo., daughter of James C. and Jessie Sifford Hill. She first married Milford Winders May 3, 1941, in Cape Girardeau. He died in April 1994. She and Henry Cooper were married Oct. 24, 1997, in Sikeston, Mo...

BERTRAND, Mo. -- Elvada Winders-Cooper, 79, of Bertrand died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 3, 1924, at Aid, Mo., daughter of James C. and Jessie Sifford Hill. She first married Milford Winders May 3, 1941, in Cape Girardeau. He died in April 1994. She and Henry Cooper were married Oct. 24, 1997, in Sikeston, Mo.

Winders-Cooper was an accountant 15 years at Woolworth's, data processing manager more than 35 years with Malone and Hyde, and a secretary 15 years at Fellowship Baptist Church.

She was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church and member of Missouri Delta Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Kenneth Winders of Boonville, Ind., John Winders of Southport, N.C., Jeffrey Winders of Sikeston; a stepdaughter, Barbara Smith of Sikeston; two brothers, Gene Hill of Sikeston, Ernest Yeakey of Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church. The Revs. Ted Wimberley and Joe McCullough will officiate. Burial will be in Blodgett Cemetery at Blodgett, Mo.
