ADVANCE -- Elsie E. Rhodes, 88, of Advance died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Bloomfield. She was born Dec. 6, 1910, at Swinton, daughter of Richard and Addie Caldwell Sheldon. She and Cecil "Shug" Rhodes were married Sept. 10, 1927, at Bloomfield. He died March 5, 1985...

ADVANCE -- Elsie E. Rhodes, 88, of Advance died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Bloomfield.

She was born Dec. 6, 1910, at Swinton, daughter of Richard and Addie Caldwell Sheldon. She and Cecil "Shug" Rhodes were married Sept. 10, 1927, at Bloomfield. He died March 5, 1985.

Rhodes was a member of Advance United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Rhodes of Advance; a sister, Jean Ward of Bloomfield; a niece raised as a daughter, Mary Gayle Westbrook; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, a sister, two brothers, and two foster brothers.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Brice officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
