ELSIE CHAPPIUS

PERRYVILLE -- Elsie Marie Chappius, 75, of Perryville died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, at the home of a daughter.

She was born Sept. 10, 1921, at Biehle, daughter of William and Albertine Zoellner Ernst. She and John Vincent Chappius were married Jan. 20, 1940. He died Sept. 12, 1974.

Chappius had worked in housekeeping at Perry County Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Ruth Rauh and Shirley Yeager of Perryville, Ruby Otte of Ste. Genevieve, Roxanne Drayton of St. Louis; three sons, David, Donald and Jim Chappius of Perryville; four sisters, Lorene Brewer and Hester Hoffman of Perryville, Olivia Behrle of High Ridge, Iva Roy of St. Louis; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. today, and Friday from 6:30-9:45 a.m. The parish wake is at 7 tonight.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Gerry Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
