Elpha Mae Bass, 86, of Cape Girardeau Nursing Center, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 1991, at the nursing center.

She was born Jan. 31, 1905, at Benton, daughter of Reece and Stella Hopper Venable. She married Orville Bass Sept. 24, 1922, at Benton. He died Feb. 19, 1976.

Bass was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald Bass of Phoenix, Ariz., Joe Bass of Cape Girardeau, Eugene Bass of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Betty Skinner of Tucson; 16 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter and granddaughter.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. David Conley will officiate, with burial in Lorimier Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
