ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral for Elmer L. "Pete" Hubbs of Anna will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. The Rev. Todd Hawk will officiate. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery with military honors by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.
Hubbs, 92, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Union County Hospital.
He was born May 22, 1908, at Wolf Lake, Ill., son of James A. and Nora Mullins Hubbs. He and Helen Ruth Hubbs were married Dec. 9, 1933, at Mound City, Ill. She died Oct. 20, 1991.
Hubbs was retired from Trojan Powder Co. at Wolf Lake. He was a member of VFW Post 3455.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was awarded five medals.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Matz of Homosassa, Fla.; two sons, James Hubbs of St. Charles, Ill., Howard Hubbs of Pekin, Ill.; a sister, Hallie Dunn of Crystal Lake, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, five brothers, and a sister.
