MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Former Marble Hill businessman Elmer Clyde Fetterhoff, 86, of Jackson, Mo., passed away at 1:10 p.m. July 6, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center, after a serious illness of two weeks. Mr. Fetterhoff was born Feb. 27, 1914, at College Mound, Mo., to Jay Glen and Ruth Westlake Fetterhoff. He was educated in Bloomington, Ill., and attended Illinois State University...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Former Marble Hill businessman Elmer Clyde Fetterhoff, 86, of Jackson, Mo., passed away at 1:10 p.m. July 6, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center, after a serious illness of two weeks.

Mr. Fetterhoff was born Feb. 27, 1914, at College Mound, Mo., to Jay Glen and Ruth Westlake Fetterhoff. He was educated in Bloomington, Ill., and attended Illinois State University.

He was married to Dorothy Eileen Fecht on June 30, 1940, at St. Brendan's Parish in Mexico, Mo., by Msgr. P.D. Gavan, and they were married 60 years this past June 30.

Elmer and Dorothy moved from Mexico in August 1950 to Lutesville, Mo., and operated a Western Auto Store and True Value Hardware Store. In May 1977 the store was sold to Bill and Carol Fetterhoff. The store will celebrate 50 years of family-owned business in August. Elmer and Dorothy moved to Jackson in 1997.

He is survived by his wife, and oldest son, William Glen Fetterhoff of Jackson, Mo., sons Thomas W. Fetterhoff and Carl Edward Fetterhoff of Galena, Mo.; a daughter, Anita Eileen Fetterhoff Fahrenkrog of Jackson; eight grandchildren: Bill's children, Kenneth Scott Fetterhoff and Tamara Davault of Marble Hill, and Cynthia Hayes of Lincoln, Neb.; Tom's children, Cheryl Hubbard, Monica Warner and Michael Fetterhoff, all of Florida; Carl's children, Mary Catherine Fetterhoff of Jackson and Elizabeth Anne Fetterhoff of Florida; six great-grandsons; a beloved daughter-in-law, Carol Fetterhoff; a son-in-law, William M. Fahrenkrog; and a sister, Alma Fetterhoff Green of Bloomington.

Six brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be Saturday, July 8, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Fr. Bill Huggins will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at Leopold.
