GREENBRIER -- Elman B. Crites, 73, of Mitchell, Ill., died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at his home.
He was born Oct. 1, 1923, at Greenbrier, son of Horace and Dovie Cato Crites. He and Pearline Davis were married May 2, 1948, in Alton, Ill.
Crites was a certified welder with Laclede Steel Co. in Madison, Ill. He was a member of Lick Creek Southern Baptist Church in Bloomfield. Crites served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Roger, Rick and Mike Crites of Mitchell; three brothers, Woodrow Crites of Sturdivant, Ernie Crites of Kinder, Junior Crites of Edwardsville, Ill.; five sisters, Norma Issac of Kinder, Emma Price and Vivian Haskel of St. Louis, Azelee Lemons and Illene Welch of East Alton, Ill.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 4:30-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Webster officiating. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery at Zalma.
