COBDEN, Ill. -- Ellen J. Treece, 72, of Cobden died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at Fair Acres Nursing Home in DuQuoin, Ill.
She was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Alto Pass, Ill., daughter of Thomas Allen and Hazel Juanita Fisher Sims. She married Paul Eugene "Mud Jack" Treece. He died March 19, 1989.
Treece was a nurse aide at Hillside Terrace several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Buerkle of DuQuoin, Susie Hand of Columbia, Ill.; six sons, Danny Chism of Blytheville, Ark., Gary Treece of Jennings, Fla., Donald and Tim Treece of Freeburg, Ill., Billy Treece of Anna, and Red Treece of Carbondale, Ill.
Also surviving is a brother, Roy Sims of Buncombe, Ill.; seven sisters, Geneva Trexler of Cobden, Mildred Sims, Barbara Roye, Cathy Glenn and Betty Odum, all of West Frankfort, Ill., Lula Donas of Carbondale, Ill., Wanda Kerley of Terre Haute, Ind.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden after 11 a.m. Friday.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rex Goforth officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery.
