Ella R. Brotherton, 84, of 12 Pindwood, died Tuesday, April 6, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Aug. 30, 1908, at Lixville, Mo., daughter of Ferdinand and Anna Bell Barks Ruessler.
She was married to Floyd Brotherton, Nov. 27, 1927. He died Jan. 7, 1968.
Brotherton has lived in Cape Girardeau for the past five years with her daughter. She moved to Oak Ridge Community in 1942 from Old Appleton. She moved to Jackson in 1954.
She worked at the Deal Nursing Home in Jackson, where she retired in 1969. She was also a former member of the New Salem United Methodist Church at Daisy, Mo.
Survivors include two sons, Delmar Brotherton of Cape Girardeau, Delbert "Butch" Brotherton of St. Charles; an adopted son, Jerry Auterson of St. Charles; four daughters, Marie Miller of Jackson, Laura H. Smith of Cape Girardeau, Bessie Bryant of Weaverville, N.C., Letha Jones of Clyde, Ohio; a brother, Herbert Ruessler of Perryville; six sisters, Estella Grindstaff, Edna Ponder, Viola Winkler and Lonita Clifton, all of Perryville, Ruby Wilfong of Patton, MO., Amelia Brown of Edwardsville, Ill.; 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, a daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 2:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson, with the Rev. E.K. Purcell officiating.
Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery.
