SIKESTON -- A memorial service for Ella Louise Carroll of Sikeston will be held at 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Fred Leist and Dr. Jim Davis will officiate.

Ponder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Carroll, 81, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born April 8, 1916, in Sikeston, daughter of John Raymond and Ella Mae Dill Shuppert. She first married Richard Lutz, who died in 1942. She later married Ralph Carroll Sr. Sept. 10, 1947. He died Sept. 22, 1992.

The Carrolls owned and operated Carroll's Florist many years. She was a member of Business and Professional Women, American Legion Auxiliary, and First United Methodist Church. She was a former BPW Woman of the Year. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Ralph Carroll Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Bill Shuppert of Richmond, Calif., John Shuppert of Jensen Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Esther Hitchcock of Greenwood, Miss., Josephine Obermiyer of Brookfield, Ohio; and two grandsons.

She was preceded in death by a brother.
