ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- Elizabeth Macon Cates entered eternal rest Monday Aug. 30, 2021, at the age of 61.
She was the beloved daughter of Kirk and B.J.; loving wife of the late Daniel J. Cates, who she spent 25 years of love and friendship beside; cherished sister of Katherine (Mark) Haynes, Kirk (Sandy) Bowman, Julie (Bob) Leonard, Becky (Stephen) East and Jennifer (Mark) Westrich; dear aunt of 12 nieces and nephews; dearest aunt of 14 great-nieces and -nephews; loving fur mom to C.J. and JoJo the poodles. She is survived by many cherished friends.
Libby above all loved her family. She cherished time with her parents and siblings, but the highlight of her life was being Aunt B. Libby was the fun aunt who filled her nephew and nieces' lives with laughter and light.
She had an avid love for the great outdoors. Libby could be found enjoying time out on the lake, trekking up a mountain, scuba diving and soaking in rays of sunshine everywhere she went. When Libby wasn't soaking in the outdoors, she could be found cuddled up on the couch, under an oversized blanket, watching silly scary movies.
One of Libby's greatest passions was her love for animals. She volunteered her time to the animals at Five Acres Animal Shelter. She loved both of her poodles, C.J. and JoJo, her fur babies.
Libby had a kind and generous heart. She was a friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be made to City of St. Charles Animal Control Services at 2835 W. Randolph St., St Charles, MO 63301.
Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
