Eleanor "Aunt Sis" McGuire, 86, of Jackson died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Jackson Manor in Jackson.

She was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Millersville, to Ora and Eula V. Statler Seabaugh. She was married to Billy Fred McGuire on Oct. 11, 1946, in Jackson. He died May 12, 1988.

Eleanor graduated from Jackson High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, where she taught Sunday school, was leader of the women's organization, leader of the Girls Action Group, Young Women's Auxiliary and Baptist Young Women.

She was a past member of Jackson Park Board and had volunteered at the former Deal Nursing Home and Missouri Veterans Home. She was a life member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 158 of Jackson, and past state president of American Legion Auxiliary.

Aunt Sis, as she is fondly remembered, was the first licensed day care provider in the state of Missouri, having cared for children in her home more than 40 years as McGuire Nursery School.

Survivors include a son, Billy Fred McGuire Jr. of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Bill Poe of Jackson; two nieces, Judy (Jerry) Cummins of Jackson, Cheryl (Rick) Sullivan of Cape Girardeau; a nephew, John Poe of Jackson; and several great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Scheper and Mary Lou Poe.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Wednesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Tim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Jackson.
