Eleanor Hearnes Hequembourg, 80, the sister of former Missouri Gov. Warren E. Hearnes, died Saturday, June 17, 1995, at 7:30 a.m. at the Bertrand Retirement Facility.
She was a resident of Bertrand and also lived in Charleston.
She was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Anniston to the late Earle Boyd and Edna May Eastman Hearnes.
She had lived in Charleston her entire life and was a member of the United Methodist Church there. She attended the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class and served as secretary of the Charleston R-1 School Board until her retirement in 1977.
She married Henri R. Hequembourg Sr. Sept. 4, 1934. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1992. She was also preceded in death by two brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Henri R. "Bud" Hequembourg Jr. of Atlanta and Donald Boyd Hequembourg of St. Louis; a daughter, Janis Stewart of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Donald Hearnes of Little Rock, Ark., and Gov. Warren E. Hearnes of Charleston; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the McMikle Funeral Home tonight from 5 to 8. Funeral services will take place at the McMikle Chapel Monday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Richard Combs officiating.
Burial will follow in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery.
