BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Elden William Proffer, 100, of Bloomfield died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 29, 1900, at Aquilla, Mo., son of Edgar and Mamie Cook Proffer. He and Delia Foeste were married Dec. 9, 1922. She died March 6, 1993.
A lifelong resident of Bloomfield, he retired from the Missouri Highway Department. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah General Baptist Church at Aquilla, and Bloomfield Masonic Lodge 153 AF&AM.
Survivors include a daughter, Vaneta Hendley; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today. Masonic service will be at 7 by Lodge 153.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Kevin Eskew and Robert Lafferty officiating. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
