AQUILA, Mo. -- Effie Dodd, daughter of the late John Thomas and Birtha Miller Daniels, was born March 25, 1949, in Bell City, Missouri, and departed this life Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 70 years.
Effie was a former employee of Venture Products in Oran, Missouri, for many years. She was also a former employee at Walmart, a member of Morley Baptist Church and a resident of Aquila.
On Feb. 28, 1970, she was united in marriage to James Eugene Dodd in Pop City, Missouri. He preceded her in death April 28, 2017.
Survivors include a son, James (Julie) Dodd of Bloomfield, Missouri; two daughters, Kim (Kip) Lafferty of Aquila and Christy (William) Dowdy of Bloomfield; three brothers, Wesley Daniels of Oran, Terry Daniels of Cape Girardeau and Robert Daniels of Jackson; three sisters, Catherine Daniels of Oran, Shirley Pirtle of Randles and Birtha Griswell of Oran; and eight grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Luther, J.R., Wilburn, John Thomas and Sherman Daniels; two sisters, Helen Cato and Alice Sauceda; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Brian Gill officiating.
