Edwin Nebel, 60, of Terre Du Lac at Bonne Terre died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Feb. 14, 1939, in Cape Girardeau, son of Edwin and Anita Loos Nebel. He married Marlene Prinz.
Nebel was a graduate of Central High School and had worked at Rust and Martin.
He was owner and broker at Nebel Insurance Agency more than 24 years. He served 20 years with Missouri National Guard.
Nebel was a member of Centenary Methodist Church at Bonne Terre and had served on its board of trustees and administration board. He was a board member of Bonne Terre Senior Apartments, former member and assistant fire chief of Terre Du Lac Fire Department.
He was a board member and past president of Bonne Terre Chamber of Commerce, was chairman of the Christmas Parade 17 years, and was named Citizen of the Year in Bonne Terre.
Nebel was a member and past president of Bonne Terre Rotary Club. He was a member and past presiding officer of Samaritan Lodge 424 AF&AM, UEL Median Chapter 129 RAM, Bonne Terre Council 43 CM, and DeSoto Commandry 56 Knights Templar.
He also was a member of Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Moolah Shrine, past master of Kadosh 32nd Degree Knights of Columbus Council, ECMO Shrine Club, Vincil Chapter 43 Order of Eastern Star, and associate guardian of Bethel 36 IOJD.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carolyn Nebel of Terre Du Lac at Bonne Terre, Debbie McMillin of Blue Springs; and a brother, Michael Nebel of St. Louis County.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre from 5-9 p.m. today, and Thursday from 4-9 p.m. A Job's Daughters memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., followed by the Rose Croix service and Samaritan Lodge service.
Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Hoos officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in St. Louis.
