MOUNDS, Ill. -- Edwin M. VonNida, 71, of Granite City, Ill., formerly of Mounds, Ill., died Sunday, Feb. 13, 1994, at the John Cochran Veterans Administration Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born June 5, 1922, near Mounds, son of George Oliver and Blanch Mae Atherton VonNida.
He was a member of the Suburban Baptist Church in Granite City.
VonNida was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.
He worked as a welder with the American Car Foundry Steel Company in St. Louis, retiring in 1971.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Stokes VonNida of Granite City; a son Gary VonNida of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Linda Boyer of Union, Mo., Jodi Bennett of Granite City; two brothers, Gordon VonNida of Mounds, Billy VonNida of Farmington, Mo.; a sister, Edna Mae King of Anna, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, with the Rev. Jerry Herring officiating.
Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
