Former businessman Edwin Ernest Vogel, 87, 424 S. Spring, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 1995, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Dec. 22, 1907, at New Wells, son of Ernest and Amelia Schuppan Vogel. He and Eva Elizabeth Heise were married March 17, 1929, in Cape Girardeau.
Vogel owned and operated E.E. Vogel Grocery Store at South West End Boulevard and Bloomfield from 1934 until retiring in 1969. He had also prepared income tax returns, and had been an agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, member and past president of Trinity Men's Club, was president of the congregation six years, member of board of elders 20 years and chairman of the board two years. He was active in the Cape Senior Center and was president four years, and was a past president of Cape Grocers Wholesale Association.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Don Vogel of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Nita Striler and Elsa Heider of St. Louis; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Dissen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. to service time.
