PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Edwin L. Clausen, 78, of Perryville died Friday, May 30, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in McNabb, Ill., son of Hans and Effie Paulsen Clausen. He and Dorothy Doll were married June 12, 1980, at Ste. Genevieve, Mo.

Clausen was a retired farmer, known as the "turkey king" in Illinois, where he raised and dressed holiday turkeys. He also was a former owner of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Perryville.

Survivors include his wife; two stepchildren, Jack P. Layton of Perryville and Rhonda Enke of Altenburg, Mo.; five stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 a.m. to the time of the service on Monday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Craig Otto officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville.
