MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Edward Henry Thele, 81, of Marble Hill died Friday, May 17, 2002, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Leopold, Mo., the son of Bernard and Josephine Lenderick Thele. He married Martha Broshuis on Sept. 8, 1943, in Leopold, Mo., and she died March 29, 2000.
He was a World War II Army veteran who served in the European and African theaters. He earned a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He worked as a farmer and was a member of St. John Church in Leopold.
Survivors include three sons, Allen B. Thele, Loren J. Thele and Melvin E. Thele, all of Marble Hill.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill with parish prayers at 6 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John Church with the Rev. Bill Huggins officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
