Edward Jacob Stone, 86, of Jackson passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 1, 1937, in Wamego, Kansas, son of Harry and Mattie Stone. Edward and Barbara were married July 19, 1959. She passed away Dec. 1, 2014.
Edward was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He then retired from Montgomery Ward after 27 years of service.
Edward was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed traveling with Barbara to many destinations during their 55 years together. Edward loved going on fishing trips with his fishing buddies and camping groups. He loved participating in classic car events in the area.
Loving survivors include his children, Lori (Robert) Meyer of Jackson, Jeff (Cindy) Stone of Jackson and Lisa Conklin of Jackson; four grandchildren, James Meyer of Scottsdale, Arizona, Megan (Ryan) Rouse of Lee’s Summit, Alex (Natalie) Stone of Jackson and Mathew Conklin of Oak Ridge.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister, Kathryn Jenkins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
A private burial will be at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
