Edward Charles Schiwitz, 83, of Scott City died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009.

He was born Feb. 23, 1926, to Arthur Albert and Mary Pearl Fullerton Schiwitz Sr. in Commerce, Mo.

Schiwitz was a heavy equipment mechanic for R.B. Potashnick. He was a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.

He was a graduate of UTI Diesel Engineering School.

He is survived by two sons, Brad (Kim) Schiwitz of Dallas, Charles (Shannon) Schiwitz of Scott City; two daughters, Rebecca (Melvin) Rhodes of Jefferson City, Mo., Geanie (Bill) Urhahn of Jackson; a brother, Henry Schiwitz of Benton, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Schiwitz Jr., and his parents.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at Eisleben Lutheran Church.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Bob Azinger officiating. Burial will be in Eisleben Cemetery.
