Edward Ringwald, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born March 2, 1922, in Cape Girardeau, to Alvin and Florence Schearf Ringwald.

Edward graduated from Trinity Lutheran School in 1937 and from Central High School in 1941.

He and Frances B. LaMar were married April 28, 1946, in Cape Girardeau. She died May 2, 1986.

Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.

He was employed at Florsheim Shoe Co. 46 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday school 20 years and was an usher. He also was a Little League baseball coach.

Survivors include a son, Michael (Judy) Ringwald of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Karen (Phil) Bolden of Columbia, Mo.; five grandchildren, Chris (Deborah) Bolden of Bloomington, Ill., Scott (Denae) Ringwald and Amy (Darin) Stageberg of Cape Girardeau, Craig (Beth) Ringwald of The Woodlands, Texas, Rebecca Bolden of Columbia; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Wiseman of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Ringwald of St. Louis; and a special friend, Bessie Bozarth of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Alvin Ringwald Jr.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Douglas C. Breite officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School Building Fund.
