PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Edward B. Mathews, 53, of Perryville died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 29, 1947, in Perryville, son of Thomas J. and Athala L. Chappius Mathews.
Mathews worked in the production department at Association of Miraculous Medal 22 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1263 and a life member of VFW Post 4282.
He was a graduate of St. Vincent High School, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include two aunts, Rose Berhle of St. Louis, Nelda Coffey of Bonne Terre, Mo.; two nieces, Renee Kunze of Jessup, Md., Michelle Barry of Burtonville, Md.; and a nephew, James Mathews of Gaithersburg, Md.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Thursday, and Friday from 6:30-9:30 a.m. The parish and KC wake will be at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
