Edward L.R. Hoyt, 72, of Sedgewickville, Mo., passed away Monday, May 4, 2009, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born July 15, 1936, in La Cygne, Kan., son of Clarence E. and Edna M. Schariard Hoyt. He and Vanna Nussbaum Peel were married Sept. 22, 1990.
Ed was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. He was assistant general mine foreman 25 years with Amax Lead Co. near Salem, Mo.
Loving survivors include his wife of 18 years; two sons, Jim Hoyt of Rolla, Mo., Rick Hoyt of Salem, Mo.; a daughter, Chris Smith of Rolla; three stepsons, Scott Peel of Oak Ridge, Bradley Peel of Sedgewickville, Cliff Peel of Coleridge, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Patti Whittington of Fruitland; a brother; and five sisters.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
