ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Edward R. Bohnert, 91, of Altenburg died Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Holiday Residential Care Center in Perryville, Missouri. He was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Crosstown, Missouri, son of August L. and Martha Wahlers Bohnert. He and Lorna C. Meinz married Oct. 27, 1951. She preceded him in death Aug. 15, 2015...

ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Edward R. Bohnert, 91, of Altenburg died Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Holiday Residential Care Center in Perryville, Missouri.

He was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Crosstown, Missouri, son of August L. and Martha Wahlers Bohnert. He and Lorna C. Meinz married Oct. 27, 1951. She preceded him in death Aug. 15, 2015.

He worked at East Perry Lumber Co. and Gilster-Mary Lee Corp. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a church elder, trustee and choir member.

Survivors include two sons, Charles (Martha) Bohnert of Altenburg and Dale (Joan) Bohnert of Frohna, Missouri; a son-in-law, Bob Jalack of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Susan Jalack; four brothers, Oscar, Wilbert, Edgar and Arnold Bohnert; and one sister, Veronie Toothman.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steven Dressler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Crown Hospice or Immanuel Radio Broadcast in Perryville or St. John's Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois.
