Edward T. Adams, 76, formerly of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, in Winter Haven, Fla. He was born Jan. 7, 1931, in Springfield, Tenn., son of Jesse Reed and Ruth Dean Adams. Edward T. Adams, 76, formerly of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, in Winter Haven, Fla.

He was born Jan. 7, 1931, in Springfield, Tenn., son of Jesse Reed and Ruth Dean Adams. He married Katy Adams, who died in December 2006.

Adams received a bachelor's degree in music from Murray State University in Murray, Ky. He served four years in the U.S. Army, and then worked with dance bands for a year.

He was high school band and vocal director six years in Anna, Ill. He attended the University of Illinois during that time, receiving a master's degree in music education in 1959.

Adams was band director two years at Perryville, Mo., moved to Cape Girardeau in 1963 and taught at Central Junior High School 15 years. He had also been director of Cape Girardeau Municipal Band. He continued his teaching career in Florida.

Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Champine and Alicia Adams of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

A memorial service was held Aug. 25 in Winter Haven.
