THEBES, Ill. -- Edna Walker, 75, of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., died Wednesday, June 5, 1996, at Ste. Genevieve Memorial Hospital. She was born in 1921 in Detroit, Mich., daughter of Barney and Mildred Jordan Bagley. Her mother died that same year and she was raised by her grandparents, Oliver and Inda Bagley of Thebes. She and Garold W. Walker were married in 1941. He died in 1976...

THEBES, Ill. -- Edna Walker, 75, of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., died Wednesday, June 5, 1996, at Ste. Genevieve Memorial Hospital.

She was born in 1921 in Detroit, Mich., daughter of Barney and Mildred Jordan Bagley. Her mother died that same year and she was raised by her grandparents, Oliver and Inda Bagley of Thebes. She and Garold W. Walker were married in 1941. He died in 1976.

Walker received a bachelor of arts degree in music education from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau in 1953, and a master's degree in music education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1970.

She taught choral, instrumental and elementary school music at Thebes Township School, and then was choral music director at Egyptian Consolidated School District in Tamms, retiring in 1979. She taught in public schools 36 years. She also coordinated and taught adult music appreciation classes and music classes for retirees through Shawnee Community College at Ullin.

Walker moved to Ste. Genevieve in 1989. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ste. Genevieve Community Choir and Ste. Genevieve Women's Club.

Survivors include a son, Gary Walker of St. Louis; a daughter, Jeorge Ann Armbruster of Ste. Genevieve; a sister, Donna Armstrong of Flint, Mich.; three brothers, Delwood and Clyde Bagley of Kansas City, Darwood Bagley of Smerna, Ontario, Canada, and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve from 3-9 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. Graveside service will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
