Edith A. Young, 86, formerly of DeSoto, Mo., died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Autumn Ridge Retirement Home in Herculaneum, Mo.
She was born Nov. 9, 1917, in St. Louis, daughter of William J. and Ida W. Maetten Hoener. She and Truman N. Young were married Aug. 2, 1943. He died Sept. 29, 1997.
Young retired as a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeSoto.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Young of Manchester, Tenn., Tom Young of Jackson; a daughter, Phyllis Lukefahr of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Adele Bossert of Chesterfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
