BERNIE -- Edith Eva Gough, 75, of Bernie, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 3, 1922, in Wilburn, Ark., to Jesse and Eva Gill Foust. She married Arvel N. Gough in Malden on July 17, 1965, and he survives her.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a manager of the lunch counter at Woolworth's in Cape Girardeau. She had been a cook for both the Bernie and Fisk public schools and was a member of White Oak Grove General Baptist Church and the White Oak and Sugar Tree General Baptist churches Woman's Missionary Society.
Other survivors include a son, Melvin B. Gage of Sedalia; a daughter, Marie Collins of Cape Girardeau; a step-son, Harold Gough of Malden; five brothers, Dalphon, Lewis and Doy Foust, all of Poplar Bluff, the Rev. Marvin Foust of Doniphan and J.C. Foust of Naylor; three sisters, Doris Stiffel of Malden and Dulcie Gibbs and Vermell Sanders, both of Poplar Bluff; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bill Pennington and the Rev. Dave Griesemer officiating. Burial will be in the Smith-Stevenson Cemetery in Dexter.
